The Faith Support Ministry has a twofold mission. First is to share the love and compassion of Jesus Christ with individuals suffering with cancer. Second is to provide assistance for financial burdens resulting from the often long range course of treatment involved with cancer.
FSM sponsors the FSM 5K for Cancer Awareness each October at Cabotfest. All proceeds of the event are committed to the FSM Financial Assistance Program. Other fundraising projects such as the annual Christmas Gift Fair, and the sale of cards, CD’s, t-shirts, etc. also fund the ministry.
Other support comes from private donations. We encourage your prayerful consideration to make this ministry part of your monthly giving plan.
What better way to acknowledge a special occasion than by expressing your gratitude for God’s gift of life in honor of a loved one affected by cancer. The honoree receives acknowledgment of your donation – other cancer patients benefit from your generosity.
Comfort is extended to grieving families through donations to the Faith Support Ministry in memory of their lost loved one. The family receives acknowledgement of your gift and other cancer patients are encouraged in their battle through the memory of those who fought before them.
FSM supports anyone diagnosed with cancer.
Patient’s names may be submitted to the ministry by a friend or loved one burdened about their illness. Simply provide the person’s name, mailing address, e-mail (if applicable), and brief details about their illness and course of treatment. In addition, a contact person’s name and contact information is helpful to provide information about the patient’s progress. A form is available on the back of this brochure or information can be submitted by: calling 501-843-5291 or e-mailing FSM@faithcabot.org
Each patient receives a blanket monogrammed with their name and a scripture reference. An introductory letter tells the patient who submitted their name to the ministry and states, “It is our hope the lap blanket will not only keep you warm, but will also remind you we are praying for you.”
Patients are placed on the FSM Prayer List. The FSM Prayer Group prays for the specific needs of each patient in the ministry. This is why a contact person is so important—to provide the ministry with updated information about the patient’s needs and progress.
A volunteer who commits to pray for a specific patient, also regularly sends him or her cards of encouragement handmade by the FSM Card Ministry. The Card Ministry meets weekly for a time of crafting cards, devotion and prayer for the patients who ultimately receive the fruits of their labor.
The FSM Financial Assistance Program is designed to help with day to day living expenses and/or incidental costs associated with receiving treatments.
Any individual may submit a request for financial assistance on behalf of a cancer patient as long as he or she can furnish pertinent information for the application process. Documentation supporting the request must be included with the application (e.g.,. copies of bills, etc.). A member of the FSM Board of Directors or the Ministry Director will complete a request form and submit it for processing.
The Board reviews and approves all requests for financial assistance and upon approval, a distribution order is issued to the Ministry Director who then administers payment.
For additional information about the FSM Financial Assistance Program, please contact any FSM Board Member or Jeremy Holloway, the Ministry Director.
An FSM Patient Advocate is available to assist patients with medical issues including insurance matters, physician referrals or problems navigating through the medical protocol associated with cancer treatments. Please feel free to contact the Faith Support Ministry anytime help is needed.
